Alain Prost

I don't know if a lot of people know this about me but I have aways been a big fan of Formula 1 racing. I don't follow it as much as I used to since I moved to Canada. But it is still something I do catch myself thinking of. No need to mention I have always been a Big fan of Senna. The thing is though, you can't really talk about senna without mentioning Prost who was also another great driver that raced in the same time period. Anyways, a couple nights ago I was looking stuff up on F1 in general and ended up finding all theses short interviews with Alain Prost. So I decided to try out a caricature. It is just a fast sketch but I think I got some stuff about Alain in there.
Hope you guys enjoy it too =]

Hey guys!
It has been a while since last I posted! I'm happy to be able to take some time and get this blog going again!
These are some fast sketches I did during my visit to the Royal Winter Fair this month (November) in Toronto. I love going there for sketching and I always see interesting things and people to draw. I also love the food there! Hope you guys enjoy the post!

Third year film Concepts

Today in class I sketched some concepts for our third year movie. Nothing is really settled yet so most of this might not even be used. I thought they looked alright regardless if they end up in the movie or not so i decided to share =]

Hope you guys like it.

We Love the Zoo!

More zoo stuff. Nic and my self decided (last minute) to go visit the zoo just for a little bit today. So we left home at around 1:30 or so and stayed there till 7. It was fun as aways. We walked around more then we actually drew this time I think. =]

Zoo Trip

I Had a slow zoo day. I felt so tired and lazy for some unknown reason. I think it was the heat. I tried sticking to pen today but most of my stuff turned out unpresentable (I don't even know if this is actually a word. hehehe). Anyways, I found this bird that I have drawn once a wile ago and I decided to give it another go. I'm sure that I posted the old one on this blog somewhere so I think it would be interesting to have this one up so we can compare the two drawings. Hope you guys like it.

Night Watch

It's dark. The wind is biting hard and there is no telling when they will arrive. All that is left to do is to wait for the horizon to light up with fire, hoping that once more it is just the Sun.  Give us at least another day, we pray.

Zoo Trip. Yay!!

Another wonderful day at the Toronto Zoo with great company! Nicole invited our friend Sheena, and I had the pleasure to meet their teacher and supervisor for their master's project, Shelly Wall, who is also an amazing artist.

Still life

This is another fast photoshop painting. I was trying to practice still life painting in. It took me about 45 min or so to finish. The main point of this was to focus on learning a bit more about colour use and increase my photoshop painting abilities.

Cheetah test

I got a new animation desk recently from a really nice guy that works in the business. So I've been trying to figure out how cheetahs move. I've Only done really rough work but this is what I came up with. There wasn't a lot of planning involved in this so the  running cycle doesn't close properly. That's why it kind of jerks a bit. Also there is no in-betweening what so ever and i don't even think all the proper key frames are in there yet. Still it looked alright for a first attempt

Cheetah are cute =D

Sushi Man

It is June. I have done very little during the time I've had off school. This is a problem I was dealing with through the end of the last semester where I just couldn't get myself to work on art. I thought at first it could be the pressure of all the deadlines; that I just wanted to be free to work on whatever I wished. It turns out I'm still having a hard time. This brings up several questions regarding what I chose to do for a living: Animation. Why can't I just do it? I love doing it. I'm always happy when I get something done. And I always have fun and feel challenged (in a good way) while I'm animating. It is committing and beginning that is an issue to me.
I can say I am a bit worried about this. I have been trying to set myself some dates and schedules but I fear to say I am not as intimidating to myself as was the fear of disapproval from my teachers. Although I do not think doing things out of fear of approval is the way to go or be happy with your life, I do feel like I have got to start somewhere. Doing something is better than nothing, regardless what the reasons for doing it were.

I like sushi, don't you guys? There is something mystical about those quiet men and women behind the counter... So concentrated.

Second Year is Over

Wow, this was a long one. And it seems like the weather is in cahoots with the school year. Spring is taking its time to come. Maybe this will make us feel a bit warmer here in the GTA. Hope it helps!

Lip Sync for a Character with a Beak - Revised

After I got some critics and feed back on my assignment I decided to improve my animation a bit. I re-did all the frames where he rubs his face with his left wing so I could make the wing more feather like and less drapery like. I also tied up some drawings and made sure he is not sliding around the screen anymore. I hope the improvements made my attempt better and not worse.

Lip Sync for a Character with a Beak

I animated and pencil tested this character I, myself, designed. The idea was to try and create a lip sync for a character with a beak. I put only about 4 hours in to this so the work isn't the best. I think the lip sync worked but I am not as pleased with the character's acting, especially in the end where his head is bobbing way more than I wanted. I also wasn't worrying too much about his placement and he ended up floating around a little bit. I guess it still counts as an exercise. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Pan in the Park (supposedly Ibirapuera in São Paulo)

This was an Layout assignment where we had to create a multy-plan pan. We also needed to have a character animated in a walk cycle. I was going to animate something specific for this assignment but I it turned out I ran out of time. I decided to follow our teacher's original instruction to use our old walk and run animation assignment instead of creating a new one. This is how it turned out. Hope you guys like it.

Another post for the blog Sketch a Little

Never Never NEVER!

This is my second Lip Sync assignment for animation class. I had to choose a a random quote from a movie, TV series, talk show, you name it. Then I had to create a character and animate this character as if he was the one saying the quote.
The quote of from the 12th episode of the second season of Two and a Half Men. I hope you guys enjoy!

TRON: Legacy

I was pretty pleased with the new movie Tron. It is a good sequel to the original Tron from 1982 and a good movie overall. Something, that for some reason really got to me, was the movie's soundtrack. Enough so, that a couple of days ago I decided to buy the original movie soundtrack on iTunes.

Yesterday night I was fixated in this one song in the soundtrack called "fall" and so... I was up all night last night. These are the results.

Hope you guys enjoy.
